BAD BATCH - Wrong ohm
Just to say that latest batch of these is way off ... coils should be 0.7ohm but are actually between 1.5ohm & 2.0ohm

Now had a replacement tub from FT and its just as bad ... item is just wrong

With that many wraps (looks like 16), I wouldn't be surprised if they really were 1.5ohms to begin with.

If these were N20 (normally the lowest resistance nichrome) you need 16 wraps on a 0.7mm ID rod to get 0.7ohms.

If these were N80, you need 16 wraps on a 0.5mm ID rod to get 0.7ohms.

SS316L - 16 wraps on a 1mm ID rod to get 0.7ohms.

Kanthal A1 - 16 wraps on a 0.15mm ID rod to get 0.7ohms.

Maybe the supplier measures them as dual coils, and ends up labeling them 0.7ohms?

Just a thought.....

TL;DR - I'd think there was no way these coils would be 0.7 ohms

@ANNIEPAN

Please check with your supplier, and have them confirm the actual material and resistance of these coils.

They mean for dual coil not single. Lots of companies do this... post .3 ohm on claptons that are .6 ohm.

If a listing says Nichrome it is normally what is now often referred to as N80. This listing is from March 2015. At that time, there was really only one Nichrome (N80) used in vaping.

But yeah, with that many wraps of 27AWG, there's no way I'd believe .7-ohm.

What's the ID of the coils? 2.5mm?

By the looks of it it is suppose to say 1.7 ohm. These look the same to me or close.

Never had a coil from FT that was not around the OHM shown ... this is a first for me

Bang on 2.5mm ... good eye

At 16 wraps & 2.5mm ID steam-engine shows it at 1.7ohm ... so think your right

The often label it as dual coils. Had this on the last Tiger, superclapton, alien coils i bought. The Sticker on the box shows always the resistance for dual coil setup.

FT coils for me have always been spot on in terms of resistance. Half the R you expected, assumed to be used in a dual set up. Incorrect specification on FT's part, R value should be for a single coil.

Noobs beware.
