Does it have a basket?
I've read somewhere that, if the cleaned object is touching the walls/floor, it will not clean well.

I've also read that it might damage the unit, but I don't believe that.

Anyway, I wouldn't buy one without a basket.

No basket. This is the first I've heard that baskets affect cleaning. Maybe the bottom of parts being cleaned is better exposed? This one cleans better than another one I have that has a basket which I think is just because this one is more powerful.

No basket. I have this USC and i use a plastic slotted soap holder as a basket

This unit does look like a chip fryer. :P


Maybe a kind of laundry bag would work, the nylon drawstring ones or even a microfiber cloth to keep the items off the bottom.

I'm not sure it's a problem needing a solution. When the parts being cleaned are just loose in the device you can spot things like screws wedging into larger parts and separate them.

I never use the basket that came with my ultrabionicjigglybob contraption. Seemed to work better without it.

At least this one has "Intellectualized time hypothesis", so no worries about that ;)

Totally offtopic, but what do you guys use for the liquid in an USC ? It plain tap water enough ?

I used tap water .. after a 30 min cycle in this, the water gets pretty warm as it is :)

I use tap water, a few drops of washing-up liquid ('dish soap' to the colonials) and half an egg-cup of vodka. Probably a waste of vodka, but it's something I tried years ago and it seemed to be beneficial at the time :)
