It's basically a piece of mesh postioned in a circle inside a coil head.
To make it work it needs to be bombarded with air from the side, unlike regular stock coils where the air goes from the bottom up like in a chimney.
To achieve that with the coils for this tank (
SKU 9728633,
SKU 9728634) there are airflow tubes/inserts provided with the tank that are meant to be placed inside the coil heads.
These inserts are covered on top and the air is directed to the sides.
IMO, calling them clapton mesh coils is a little misleading, as least for those who are familiar with regular mesh coils, as the "claptoning" only consists of three strings of metal holding the coil wires together.
