Make your airflow quite and smooth 🛠
Alberich RTA - my thoughts and airflow noise reduction.
IMO the Alberich is a really excellent rta on both aspects, MTL and RDL. It's beautiful, the quality of the craftsmanship is very nice and the flavor is top notch. Right now I'm vaping it to compare with my long time beloved Dvarw MTL,as they share some similar characteristics like the 22mm. diameter and bottom airflow with pins. Both coiled with exactly the same 0.90 ohm round wire Ka1 coil, fresh wick and the same liquid. Alberich is the way easiest rta to wicking, coiling and filling compared with Dvarw. They had both exactly the same sharp intense flavor and nice saturated vapor, but the Alberich have slightly more throat hit. That's something i personally highly appreciated. The draw tightness of the 1mm airhole of both is the same. BUT....
Surprisingly the Alberich's airflow is somehow loud and not as smooth as I wish it to be. As can be expected from an MTL vaper like me with an overall 12 years of vaping experience, I'm very sensitive about the sounds of my rtas and the smoothness of their airflow. So I immediately have a look closely to find what is wrong 🤔. And I found it quickly...Is something really small and simple and I was confused how the designer is not being seen that. The airflow holes of the sides bottom of the airflow pins are pretty small. The airflow pin itself is closed inside the rta in a tight place also, and that combination creating an airflow turbulence resulting some loudness of the draw. The good news is that the problem is easy fixable. I've immediately opened the bore of the side airholes of the pins using the point end of my pliers. That was easy as the pin is made of brass, which is highly conductive, but also soft metal. So no problem to strip those holes making them wider. Then inserted the air pin inside the atty with one of the air hole aligned to (looking at) directly the external air hole of the rta's base.
Had to do that on the 3 smallest pins I'm using mainly, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.3mm and it worked awesome. At my picture you can see differences of the original pin on the left, and one with the bigger hole which I make on the right. Now the airflow is smooth and the sound I'm hearing comes only from the coil cracking itself. Good for the owners to having an resolving solution, tough, still sad that was not fixed from the factory. Hopefully they fix that on the future with redesigning the side holes shape and bore of their airflow pins and selling them as spare parts.
