I would be interested in that for sure if you can find and post. Maybe some of the terminology in the video could lead to clues about the process.

I sent my buddy a message of he remembers the knife. Im having an issue finding the exact video. "Powder steel casting" came up with alot on Google if your looking for that specific Info, but the knife process I can't find anything.
Knock knock, let the devil in. Malevolent as I've ever been, head is spinnin'. This medicine's screamin', "L-l-l-let us in!"

"On Damascus Steel", 1991, by Leo Figiel....available at Amazon.

Great reference.
What does he mean when he says words?

+1 details
It looks like a great reference and though it is an investment I would like to make, I cannot see my way to spring that much cash. I'll have to stick with my "History Channel" subscription, I guess (lolzzzz).

Ok so... My buddy remembers the knife but can't remember the company... "Master chef something or another, all they make is kitchen knives." "They are expensive as hell, like 150$ was the cheapest"

Not sure what to say about this maker...technician to be sure, and he illustrates how the pattern develops.

I found this today...the narration is spot on but the video suffers a bit. Comment section has a ton more info on Wootz and Damascus.

Thanks for reminding me. That cheap ass knife, just reached US soil yesterday, and finally got a message back from the seller.

It's listed VG10 and I sent him a message that "I know that's bullshit, what's the actual metal used?"

His first reply was he needs to talk to the manufacturer... 3 weeks later the reply is now "manufacturer says item is laminated steel"

I'm expecting a easily rustable knife :\ lmao. oh well.

This is the guy who made copper "Damascus" blades. I'd love to own 1 or 2 from this guy.

Yeah, they are show blades, for sure. Wouldn't be a choice for me. I can't find it right now, but there is a Ukrainian making modern Wootz knives with excellent design down to the compact edge metal as discussed in the video I just posted. Sadly, unavailable.
