Dutch or English language matters to me, nice weather, sense of humor, fair cost of living and a decent healthcare system, and preferably not too many creepy animals.

Six out of six is virtually impossible.

Valencia, Spain, if I gave up on language.
Dublin, Ireland, if I gave up on weather.
Portland, Oregon, if I gave up on decent healthcare.
Australia, if I wouldn't hate big spiders and weird snakes so much.

Curacao, Malta, Gibraltar or New Zealand come closest.

google: BES-eilanden

Gibraltar?

Hmm. If one doesn't like snakes, you better like nasty little monkeys.

Beautiful spot to visit. Been there a couple of times but cant imagine living there full time.
Nasty monkeys.

Same with Malaysia. Lots of nasty monkeys there too 😂

The island Sint Maarten in the Caribic is very close to what you want.

I live in Germany, not a bad Base Camp in Europe.
With my Mercedes Sprinter I travel in EU from E to W, from N to S, from NW to SE,...
To drive daily in EU 200km is a lot for sightseeing.
Every 300km, the people are a lot different than before.
Every 300km, you eat total different food in the restaurant.
Every 300km, you have a total different breakfast.

Thats counts for EU to be one of the best places to live in this world.

Now please explain to me why the deserts in US and Australia are the better choice.

Forget Gibraltar UK and the spanish side.
Long long time ago Porto in Portugal and close by the region Galicia in NW Spain was very good, no tourists at all. Both direct close to the ocean, best sea food.
Perhaps we have a member in this forum who knows Porto and Galicia ES.

I have only spent time on the southern coast of Spain, all along from west to east and some of the smaller towns maybe 30-45 min north of the coast but I wasn't overly fond of it.

Wasn't particularly fond of the loud drunk British tourists that are highly visible everywhere along the coast. Up in the smaller towns I found the Brits a lot better. Quieter.

Overall though, I felt it was a bit old there for my liking. Too many retirees.

And bloody hot.
Loved living down in Jamaica but that cured me of year round heat.

Never did Portugal though.

I like seasons.

That are the known problems in SE Spain.
The trick is:
The wave on the atlantic side of iberian peninsular is far to high for save tourist swimming,
thats the reason why there are much less tourists.
Thats why I pointed to Porto and Galicia ES.

But it seems we can not rate this thread with the button, a software problem?

Perhaps the German visited more remote arias in Canada,
than the common man in Canada.
Thats why you are first to explain why Canada is one of the best choices in this world.
