Haven't looked at the Panasonic cells that Tesla uses. But I think one of the key factors is that they use some 7000-8000 cells or so. Apparently, it can go for some 48000km with only degradation of 5%. Hard to translate that to vape or the normal datasheet data.

But this seems to be the real-life stats (so I would guess that the car will need charging way more often at 6y):

No problem for me to exchange batteries every 6 or 9 month, 3 for 15$ or cheaper.
But I was thinking about the new electric car buyers.
Do you think they can drive with a new battery set 6 years without replacement?

Tesla batteries last because the management system doesn't charge them to full capacity (a 'max' charge is to 4.1V rather than 4.2V) - undercharging can greatly extend the life of L-ion cells.

Although the battery packs provide a lot of energy and range they contain thousands of cells and the Amp load is shared, because a Tesla battery pack contains so many cells they can use high capacity, low Amp batteries - this isn't the case with single battery mech tubes where one cell takes the entire Amp drain. With mech mods you are always better off using high Amp rated cells if performance is your goal. Batteries from a Tesla would give long run time in a mech, but miserable performance because they are 8 Amp... Forget about them - cells designed for use in power tools and vacuum cleaners are far more suitable for mech mod use.

The answer is simple - the higher Amp drain Molicels will give better performance than the cells you have been using, and you should also strip and clean the switch internals. I would recommend you do this by hand with a soft cloth and metal polish - don't just clean the area around the splines (their main purpose is to stop the two halves of the switch twisting when you unscrew it from the tube) - as ANY area of the two halves of the switch transfer energy when they come into contact, so clean every surface inside the switch along with the switch threads, 510 threads ad battery contacts.

Don't be tempted to use power tools and brushes - these are fine for the externals, but not so great for the inside of switches and threads. Once they are properly cleaned you can keep them in good condition buy using ultrasonic cleaners or vinegar if you do it frequently enough, but cleaning by hand is always the most effective method.

.... and they will perhaps only allow to discharge to 40% to get more cycles.
They perhaps use only 50% of the batteries total power (90% (4.1V) minus 40% = 50%),
and thats why they need thousands of batteries to get 400km.

That means for mech mods: the bigger battery is the better battery.

shows winner 21700 Samsung 30T 35A 3000mAh (second winner Molicel P42A 30A 4000mAh)
Moochs comment: Hardest hitting of any battery.

Same on lygte, compare 18650 Molicel P26A with 21700 Molicel P42A at 7/10/15A.

Big, big difference.

I think I need a 21700 mech mod and some Molicel P42A.

Testing now Moochs winner mech mod 18650 Molicel P26A for a week.
Yes, very good, good full hit.
And not only in the first 30 minutes, still after a much longer time.
Recharging with 1A is very fast.
Thanks zarck.

These 21700 Molicel P42A might be even better,
but I dont found a good and cheap 21700 mech mod on FT.

I had the same idea with the Vindicator.
There are better pictures on:
https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10057130/9695216-vindicator-3-styled-hybrid-mechanical-mod
But the switch copper pin seems not to slide in the brass directly.
You only see that on Google pictures, I will not hope this is Teflon.

My first new 21700 pure mech mod:

Vindicator SKU 9695216 FT price 17$
Old style RDA SKU 9629096 FT price 6.15$
The 21700 Molicel P42A, cheap.

Total: 23.19$

DO NOT COPY THIS, THESE MOD CONSTRUCTIONS ARE DANGEROUS.

Just ask, and the specialists in this forum will answer.

I will write about the battery, mod and RDA results in about 10 days, just time for test.
And what to do for safe using a no chip mech mod
