YES the Bestia is side fire.

The Purge and Comp Lyfe clones are generally $30 and over, but they are better performing mechs and worth paying the extra for, but Purge 21700 mods can be 300 grams - not a problem for home use, but you wouldn't want to carfry one in your pocket.

21700 mechs: Bestia is on the left, a ShenRay clone -21700.

Perfectly safe in pocket, BY ITSELF. Firm, but not uncomfortable, press. Hits harder than many 100.00+ mechs, including giving the SUI-SIDE a run for the money (on right).

Look, I know the SMPL has fans, but realistically, it's nostalgia and comfortability more than performance and ease of use...and Bestia 21700 mods were 9.99 for MONTHS at the other vendor, and now they're gone...but 2 friendly guys have deals on tubes all the time. Better quit stalling, because they aren't really making new ones, and once remaining stock is gone....they're gone.

Will vapers who use high resistance atties notice SMPL volt drop? Not likely, as the high resistance already changes perception of what a "strong hit" is. But sag, and a consistant vape, is always desirable, regardless of vaping "style". That's why stainless tubes have always been a "black sheep", and rightfully so, IMO.

Crispycritters, I had a bunch of SMPLs, bought from several places. The quality of the switches were differing (smoother - stickier/ stronger spring - weaker spring etc.) I also used these switches in several other mods. But there was only one similar to what you've just described above & quasi useless.I think you just weren't lucky. I'd guess they just didn't leave enough length on the threaded end. A half mm makes a huge difference.

.

No there was plenty of threading but I think I was just plain unlucky. I've had a few of them (all with spring switch) and some were ok - and probably decent enough compared to what was available when it was new, but that was years ago.
This thread made me dig out my old SMPL - and it's fine with a VTC5A and a 0.25 ohm single coil, but my 18650 AV Comp Lyfe mods totally outperform it.

The only thing irritating about it is it is small light and pocket friendly, until I put it in my pocket and set fire to my balls.

I was slow off the mark and missed out on the copper, but the brass version is still pretty good. I don't trust the side fire bar in my pocket (but like you said it needs a fairly firm press) but I've loosened off the battery contact and pocket carried it a few times.

I think I should order a spare or two while they are still available.

I've got no balls but can fully understand it =D

didn't mean the "quantity" of threading, rather the distance between the threaded part's level and the firing pin. If the pin has some thickness, could be sanded off a bit.
Never been arsed with it. IF - one day - I can get a reg. side by side mod that'd be possible to convert for any mech tubes on the battery side, i'd just make a fixed pin from it. (had some ideas for the Converter mod, but finally I just like it as it is) ;)

A quick update on 21700 SMPL: we're back from the break but we need 2 more days (until Feb 10th) to work on this, as most of our suppliers are still on holiday.

I will provide another update when I know more.

Thanks Andy.lion

With 84 x 25 mm and 105g this 21700 tube mod would be very small and very light.
Or: a lot of power in a very small tube mod.

I checked the C4 and CC proposals,
but I found only: discontinued, too expensive, too heavy, unreliable side fire.

I am still open for better than 21700 SMPL solutions.

Until we have no better solution,
please vote for 21700 SMPL.

And in the meantime, get the Tauren (90mm) with constant contact switch in brass for 43$. Sometimes you have to pay a little bit more.
We can't agree on everything.

Thanks philipvdb,

in the first 20 google hits I could not find a good switch inside picture,
perhaps you have a link.

This constant contact switch in the Vindicator is just shit,
there is no way to open the switch.

And the "specialists" in this forum told me,
the Vindicator is a good choice.

Some of the "specialists" in this forum seems to like lots of writing,
but with very little know how.

But philipvdb, I dont mean you.

Edit: sorry, I started to derail this thread, I will never do it again.

I just visited the site I mentioned weeks ago, where Overlords, Purge, and Complyfe clones, all 21700, all made by excellent clone maker WejoyTech, and all below 28.00 are listed....you don't want a "good" tube it seems, you just want a Chinese company to make you a special order device for 10.00, and buddy, it ain't gonna happen.
